                                                Welcome to the Las Colinas Elementary PTA  Website!

For those of you just visiting our site for the first time, WELCOME!  We would love for you to join us!  The PTA is a great  way to support your school.  Your support makes possible PTA-sponsored events such as the Back to School Social, Daybreak with Dads, Mornings with Moms just to name a few.  The PTA also sponsors monthly General Meetings for your family to attend such as the Mad Science Program, Choir Programs, etc.  And joining the PTA is simple.   Just Click here for the PTA membership form  and you can send it in with your child's folder.  

MAY NEWS
Order your 2011-2012 Yearbooks online from now through the end of  the year!   You can also order your 2012-2013 School Supplies from now until July 10, 2012 (avoid waiting in lines and the hassle of running to various stores plus you can pay by credit card!).   Also, don't forget to check out the Dining for Dollars restaurants.  A portion of your check will be donated back to Las Colinas Elementary!  In the 2010-2011 school year, Las Colinas Elementary received over $1,200 from this program.

Have you seen me?
The sign reads "You've been flocked by Las Colinas Elementary!"  This is a school fundraiser where we ask for a small donation to have these 'professionally' removed from your lawn.  In return, you get to select where the flamingos land next.  So keep an eye out, these little flamingos may migrate over to a yard near you!


Don't forget to take advantage of the Lands' End School Rewards Program where LCE can earn cashback rewards on school uniform purchases when you make a purchase using our School Code (900081472).

New Shade Structure!
The 2010-2011 PTA is proud to donate this amazing gift to our school - Las Colinas Elementary!  Thank you all who donated your time, money and effort in making this gift a reality.  This is a picture from the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, September 30, 2011.

WHAT  IS PTA?
PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a national  organization whose mission is “to make every child’s potential a reality by  engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”   The PTA provides the setting for parents, teachers, Principal, staff and community members to come together to improve the lives of the students through programs and activities.  

ABOUT US
Locally, at Las Colinas Elementary (LCE), the PTA provides support to the students, teachers, staff and families of LCE.  Every year, the PTA sponsors several events that aim to serve our school community:

·         Back to School Social/Meet the Teacher
·         Daybreak with Dads
·         Mornings with Moms
·         Tears and Treats
·         Reflections Art Program
·         Scholastic Book Fair
·         Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe
·         Teacher Appreciation Week
·         Fall Carnival
·         Class Parties (Winter/Valentine’s Day/End of Year)
·         Teacher classroom needs and Room Parent Coordination
·         Special grade-level events (Fairy Tale Ball, Rodeo Days,  5th Grade Camp, etc.)
·         Red Ribbon Week
·         PTA Evening Programs like the Winter Concert/Veteran’s Day/Art Show
·         TAKS Tests Breakfasts for test-taking students
·         Kindergarten Coffees

Understandably, these events require funding and volunteers.   LCE PTA is a self-funding organization.  This means that the money raised each school year through PTA memberships ($7 per adult) as well as the other fundraising activities are what make these events possible - along with our wonderful volunteers!

In addition to school events and programs, the PTA provides supplies and equipment to the school as needed.  The PTA calls these “Gifts to School.”  Over the past several years, PTA memberships combined with additional fundraising activities have provided such “Gifts to School” as: 

·         Blue shade structure (where K-1st sit for afternoon pick-up)
·         Desk chairs for all the teachers
·         Interactive white boards for the classrooms
·         Book carts for the library and each grade level
·         PE mats, balls and jump ropes
·         Laminating machine
·         Sound system for gym
·         Benches – front of school and on playground
·         Water fountain outside by gymnasium for kids to use at recess
·         Repainted and styled all restrooms

Interested in joining the Las Colinas Elementary PTA? 

We invite you to join our PTA. The dues are $7.00 per adult membership.  Our goal for this year is at least two memberships per family.  Parents, grandparents, friends, coworkers and neighbors are eligible to join.  Members are not required to attend meetings or events. We would welcome your participation, but it is not necessary.  If you are unable to volunteer your time, you can help our students simply by paying the membership dues.

Please join Las Colinas Elementary PTA today by completing the membership form  and returning it with your dues. Payment can be made by cash or check (payable to LCE PTA) and sent back in your child’s folder.
